Cabeceiras de Basto

Située dans une région connue comme les terres de "Basto", nom associé au Guerrier Lusitanien "Basto", une figure légendaire célèbre dans les luttes de résistance aux invasions maures. Ce guerrier est représenté dans des statues en granit dont l'origine date de l'époque antérieure aux Romains (Ier siècle avant J.-C.). Initialement, elles auraient servies de monuments funéraires pour identifier les sépultures des guerriers, l'une d'elles étant posée sur un piédestal à l'entrée de Cabeceiros de Basto.

Le Monastère de São Miguel de Refojos, dont la fondation est antérieure au XIIe siècle, eut une grande influence dans le développement de la région, d'ailleurs le bourg a aussi été connu sous le nom de Refojos do Basto.

Dans des terres de grande beauté, aux fleuves limpides et aux montagnes luxuriantes, arrêtez-vous au Parc de Moinhos do Rei, qui concentre l'ensemble des moulins communautaires d'Abadim, construits sur ordre de Dinis, roi du Portugal au XIVe siècle.
