Ponte da Barca

Située dans une région verdoyante au bord du Fleuve Lima, il semblerait que Ponte da Barca pris le nom de la barque qui assurait la liaison entre les deux rives, avant que le pont ne soit construit au XVè siècle. Cette région était autrefois connue comme Terra da Nóbrega ou Anóbrega que l'on pense dériver du nom romain "Elaneobriga".

Le centre historique de la ville avec ses maisons seigneuriales (certaines ayant été adaptées au tourisme d'habitation) et de beaux monuments du XVIè et du XVIIIè siècles méritent une visite attentive, tout comme les environs, où se distinguent l'Église Romane de Bravães du XIIIè siècle et le Château do Lindoso (XIIIè siècle) qui joua un rôle importante dans la défense de la région.

Ponte da Barca appartient au Terroir des Vinhos Verdes . Une partie de sa commune s'insère dans le Parc National de Peneda-Gerês qui offre d'excellentes conditions pour les activités sportives et les loisirs.
